Facebook for BlackBerry v 1.9 incorporates user feedback and adds Facebook Places and BlackBerry Maps integration.
Facebook Places
Facebook Places allows you to see where your friends are and what they're up to. Users can tag the friends they're with, add comments about the place they are checked into and add additional information as they move around.
GPS and BB Maps Integration
The app integrates with BlackBerry Maps, allowing users to view their location, where their friends are and also get directions to and from Facebook Places.
The new app builds on previous versions, and now includes:
# An updated navigation bar
# Search for people and pages
# Integration with universal search on BlackBerry 6 devices
# Viewing friends' profile pictures and Pages from the Friends list page
The existing app already allows BlackBerry smartphone users to:
# Receive friend requests, wall posts and messages automatically
# Set up a unique alert (vibration and/or ringtone) for Facebook related content
# Quickly access essential features – convenient onscreen icons let users change their status, upload a photo, add a friend, poke someone, write on a wall, or send a message.
# Invite friends to join Facebook and accept new friend requests
# Scroll through messages and notifications as they do with email messages
# Snap and post pictures along with a caption and tags in a few easy steps – the photo upload feature is also integrated with the BlackBerry smartphone camera and photo management applications on the smartphone
# The new application is available to download for free from BlackBerry App World.
