If you haven’t noticed, you’re living in the dark ages while the rest of the world is....well, living in the iWorld. Of course, we’re referring to the iPhone. It is a line of internet and multimedia enabled smartphones marketed by AppleInc. The late Steve Jobs, unveiled the iPhone to the public in 2007 at the Macworld 2007 convention in San Francisco.
The iPhone went on sale in the US on June 29th, 2007 and the passionate reaction to the launch of the iPhone resulted in sections of the media christening it the ‘Jesus phone’. It can function as a video camera, a camera phone, a portable media player, an internet client with email and web browsing capabilities, can send texts and receive visual voicemail and has both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. The user interface is built around the device’s multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard instead of a physical one. The world is literally in the hands of any iPhone user.
It’s been taking the world by storm. Interestingly, Apple sold 6.1 million original iPhone units over 5 quarters. And recorded sales have been growing since, so much so that by the end of 2010, a total of 73.5 million iPhones were sold. It’s iMadness.
The App Store was launched in mid 2008 and third party as well as Apple application software is available. Currently, the App Store has over 500 000 applications approved by Apple. These applications have diverse functions, including games, reference, GPS navigation, social networking, security and advertising for television shows, films and celebrities.
In terms of the travel industry, it’s smarter to iTravel, than traditionally travel. And because iPhone’s have become the new computers and laptops, audio guides have become the new traditional tour guides. Cutting out the middle man and letting traveller’s experience their destinations in their own time, as well as providing the specific information they need when travelling, is simplifying and revolutionising this industry.
For Hummba, in particular, that means being able to not only provide audio guides for iPhone, but free audio guides for the iPhone. Our range of free audio guides include all of the major cities around the world from the City of Lights, Paris, to the Big Apple, New York.
And with all these cities, we bring you free audio guides that suit any traveller’s taste in what you want to experience. Monuments, landmarks, museums, natural wonders, historical importance, specific routes of interest and theatres are a few of the audio guides for iPhone that we have available for download. Our travel application allows iPhone as well as iPad users to share their travel experiences while being engaged and travelling the 21st century way, iTravelling.
