Cape Town claims the Travellers’ Choice Awards top spot

Cape Town has been named the best holiday destination in the world by US-based travel website TripAdvisor. The site released its Travellers’ Choice Awards for the year earlier this week and the Mother City managed to beat the likes of Sydney, Paris and Rio de Janiero to claim the top spot.

Here at Hummba, we’ve always considered Cape Town to be one of the top places to visit on your travels. We’ve got several intelligent audio guides on Cape Town, which give you information about the numerous attractions that the city has on offer.

Hummba’s Cape Town City Guide for example, gives you all the information you’ll need when visiting the Mother City. From Table Mountain to Camps Bay, to the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and everything in between, Hummba audio guides cover all the bases.

More than three million people passed through Cape Town’s famous V&A Waterfront over the recent December holidays, further cementing its position as the top tourist attraction in Africa. The Cape Winelands are also a favourite amongst visitors and Hummba has audio guides to several wine routes in the area.

Our intelligent audio guides use GPS technology to provide you with travel information relevant to your location, and are available on the iPhone and Android smartphones. We also provide offline maps, which mean you won’t be running up your data bill while you’re looking for the next exciting place to visit.

Congratulations to Cape Town from all of us here at Hummba on being selected the top destination in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards. For more information about Hummba, or to download free audio guides on Cape Town and some of the world’s other top destinations, visit www.hummba.com.

The holidays are long over, so you better start planning your next one!

Many of us are still recovering from the end of year holidays, but January is actually the perfect time to plan the next one. The Easter break in April provides a great excuse for a mid-year getaway and what better place to go than Rome?

The Italian capital is an incredible place to visit at any time of the year, but even more so during Easter. Rome comes alive as the Vatican City celebrates the Christian holy week and whether you’re religious or not, it really is worth a visit. Tens of thousands of pilgrims and inquisitive tourists visit Saint Peter’s Square to attend one of the Pope’s numerous public masses. The pageantry associated with Easter in Rome is simply breathtaking.

A walking tour of the city is one of the best ways to experience all that Rome has to offer during this busy holiday season. Take a stroll through the ancient Roman Forum or visit the historic Colosseum. The beautiful Spanish Steps and the world-renowned Trevi Fountain should also be firmly placed on every tourist’s itinerary when visiting the city.

You can download free audio guides to some of the hottest attractions in and around Rome. Check out the audio walking tour of the city or explore some of the famous districts, squares and streets of Rome.

Happy travels in 2012!
