So Long Atlantic

The news is in! The world's largest solar powered ship has made it to the American's, on it's maiden voyage around the globe.

In just 26 days the Turanor has managed to sail across the Atlantic Ocean as the crew have spotted their first islands in the Caribbean. With the power of the sun's rays pushing the vessel and her crew on, team Turanor have come along way. Live updates from the crew have told us that they've all switched on their mobiles in order to pick up the local network. They are also extremely happy to feel like they're part of civilisation once again, considering that they've been floating in the Atlantic and praying for sunshine for weeks now. Another interesting fact that the reports have told us is that the crew hadn't seen land for over three weeks. This was a first for some of the team, so you can imagine how delighted they were when they spotted the Anguilla Island, the first sign that they had officially made it across the Atlantic.

Facebook for BlackBerry v 1.9 incorporates user feedback and adds Facebook Places and BlackBerry Maps integration.

Facebook Places

Facebook Places allows you to see where your friends are and what they're up to. Users can tag the friends they're with, add comments about the place they are checked into and add additional information as they move around.

GPS and BB Maps Integration

The app integrates with BlackBerry Maps, allowing users to view their location, where their friends are and also get directions to and from Facebook Places.

The new app builds on previous versions, and now includes:

# An updated navigation bar

# Search for people and pages

# Integration with universal search on BlackBerry 6 devices

# Viewing friends' profile pictures and Pages from the Friends list page

The existing app already allows BlackBerry smartphone users to:

# Receive friend requests, wall posts and messages automatically

# Set up a unique alert (vibration and/or ringtone) for Facebook related content

# Quickly access essential features – convenient onscreen icons let users change their status, upload a photo, add a friend, poke someone, write on a wall, or send a message.

Hummba's resident travel nut has been at it again and this time he's chosen an extra special route, which should appeal to all our thirsty travelers out there.

More from the Turanor

As I write this weeks blog, the Turanor, also known as the worlds most advanced solar catamaran, is already making it's way past the north west coast of Africa and hasn't shown any signs of stopping.

In case you've been out of the loop for the past few weeks, the Turanor is a large and impressive boat, on a round the world expedition relying solely on the power of the sun. The boat is a fresh and unique new entry to the field of technology on water, equipped with cutting edge technology. The Turanor and it's crew began their ground breaking voyage, setting off from Monaco on September 27th and here at Hummba we've been following the vessel and her crew as they've braved the seas of the Mediterranean so far. Hummba Users, followers of this blog and fans of our travel mascot, Jack Hummba have been receiving frequent updates on the Turnor's voyage. Jack Hummba hit's Franschhoek

There's nothing quite like making your way over the infamous Hellshoogte Pass and locking eyes with what I like to call the French Quarter of the Cape Winelands. Believe it or not Franschhoek is a not only one of the oldest towns in South Africa but it was originally started by the French Huguenots. The town has grown in leaps and bounds since the Huguenot's first decided to set up shop in this picturesque area of the Cape. So it's no surprise that Hummba.com's very own travel guru, Jack Hummba would decide to pay a visit to this unique French village.
